Got me a Delta hat and a Bowery flannel a few weeks ago (should of got a small!) The Delta is pretty bad ass. It is shorter and wider and I assume it is why the top of the hat is pushed out unlike the Stroll. The Delta sort of rests on your head. It’s made of really soft paper straw and has a nice burgundy silk lining. Me like.

The Bowery Flannel is also pretty awesome, it is super soft and was very comforting while I was sick a few weeks back. I kept getting cold and hot and the flannel was very okay with being put on and off multiple times through out the day. It also kind of reminds me of this blue flannel my dad rock around the house. He would always be cold so rather than bump the heater he wore a thick ass flannel. Warm, thin, soft and fits really nicely. Like I said I should of got a small for the ultimate awesome but the medium is just baggy enough to be a bummy day flanny or an evening walk along the beach flanny. Get some.

Brixton Baby

Brixton always brings the heat sauce. I figured since summer is on it’s way I should get me a hat made of straw, something that can breathe. If you have ever had the pleasure of wearing a brixton stroll in the heat you know you won’t be doing it again soon.

After all things were considered I went ahead and picked up the drifter (runner up the castro) It’s an odd hat, for that reason alone it is my summer hat for 2009.

It’s odd because from the front it looks like I have a big halo floating around my head. From the side it looks like a fedora. Also there are no dips/indents on the bucket part (?) need to brush up on my hat anatomy. The hat has a low profile so no matter how hard you shove it on your head it will always look like it’s sitting on top of your head.

During the process of grabbing a hat stumbled upon a few shirts too. One being a brixton shirt, the other two being shirts by some sunglasses company called sabre. The sabre shirts are so cool I couldn’t find pictures of them online and I’m a lazy turd so you know I ain’t snappin none.

New Brixton?

I can’t remember if I ever saw this hat on the website before. I’m diggin it. It’s called the drifter and I will own one. It looks so old school, kind of like those old politician hats.

Regarding my new hat

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I was leaving the Burger King after spending my last two dollars and in the parking lot were two black guys staring me down. I continued to look at them while I drove past and of the guys said “THAT’S THE HAT!” I stopped and said “excuse me?” and he continued “THAT’S THAT HAT MY SAXOPHONE PLAYER USED TO WEAR!! THAT’S THAT HAT!! OH YEAH THAT’S THE HAT!!” I concurred that it was indeed a nice hat, threw him a peace sign (two fingers) and was on my way. Made me smile though, black people rule.

On a completely different note while I was attending a memorial for a family friend who recently committed suicide my one black friend from high school had the audacity to ask me if I cried during the ceremony. He then took it one step further and asked “how many tears” did I shed. I instantly turned sour and asked “What type of f*cking question is that!” I then answered my own question by stating “That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Get the f*ck out of my face with that bullsh*t.” To which he repiled “I’m going to get some water,” and he walked off.

I mean this has nothing to do with ethnicity and more with the fact that this has been a douche since high school (he just happens to be black) I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he’s just never been to a memorial service and doesn’t know it isn’t a crying contest. Retarded ass bastard.

New Head Pieces

Brixton makes some pretty rugged hats. I picked up a few at Emerald City in Coronado. I got two of the same hat but they are made of different fabrics. The first I swooped is the Stroll in grey wool with a Lady Guadalupe lining (Awesome… even more awesome if you like to mainline.)

The second hat I got is also a Stroll but it has a nice grey herringbone pattern twill (silly flyness!) The hats are very solid, even their straw fedoras are pretty hefty. I am impressed and look forward to owning many a hat by these guys.
