What Goes Around Comes Around

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I found this awesome post on albotas.com and figured I need to spread the goodness. Don’t really have time to research and figure out who made these but I thought they did a good job of stating a valid point with very valid imagery without getting too doushey (cough cough truth campaigns) plus I’ve always been a sucker for military stuffs. Either way kudos to whoever brained this campaign as it’s great.

Real x Head Thunder Lagoon Mini

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Haven’t really been into toys much due to financial constraints but I recently saw this guy online and thought he looked bad ass. It’s a Real x Head mini figure, the character is Thunder Lagoon. The black rub on green is pretty sick and he just a mean lookin little scaly dude.

Blind Lemon Jefferson – See That My Grave Is Kept Clean

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Blind Lemon Jefferson is pretty much the first black dude to get paid for making awesome music in the 20’s. He was indeed blind and belted out the blues like nothing anybody had heard at the time. Blind Lemon did pretty good for himself, surely not as good as his record label but somethings never change. Another famous Blind Lemon tune is Black Snake Moan but I chose this song because I would like my loved ones to see that my grave is kept clean. Don’t forget about me when I die dammit! And please don’t let the weeds grow all crazy around it.

I love the way he just has a string holding his guitar up rather than an actual strap. The music is raw, the sounds of bad lighting and thin coats of dirt and grime on a chair in a dingy barn with the door slightly ajar. I can see myself walking up to it and seeing a little bit of the bad lighting escaping the door and with it the sound of the Blind Lemon blues and as I start to take it all in some grown person says “bow you’s butta git beck inside nah!”

Target IE6 and IE7 With Only CSS?!?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I stumbled upon this looking for something different but I found it to be a very interesting (and useful) approach to dealing with the notoriously useless internet explorer browser. This eliminates having to use conditional statements and style sheets just for specific browsers (dreamy). It seems almost too good to be true. The downside of it being your css won’t validate… sometimes I care sometimes I don’t, I dunno. It’s pure genius! Who would’ve known all it takes is a * and an _ in your css!?!?

Kudos to Brian Cray, the article was on his site. Here’s the link: http://briancray.com/2009/04/16/target-ie6-and-ie7-with-only-1-extra-character-in-your-css/

Happy Saturday Ya’ll!

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

So I’m feeling good today. Just took advantage of a Mishka 25% off sale, about to go get 40% off at the levi’s store and I still can’t decide whether I’m to get my acoustic guitar repaired or if I’m going to buy a cheap-o uke. I also have a package at my moms pad which I believe might be a zudon from the evil genius  Paul Kaiju.

And I’m feeling so I will leave you with this gem to remind you of how good you got it.

Leadbelly is the shit, is that a ten or twelve string guitar!?!?!? see more here

Dock Boggs – Sugar Baby

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

This is the sound I’ve been craving lately. It is of course mountain banjo but there is something to it that is kind of creepy sounding (make the sheep scared). It has a repetition to it that I enjoy a bit more than regular bluegrass style pickin’. Plus Dock Boggs is just a G look at this guy…

and I guess if you want to see what his music has inspired in others

Old Forester Signature = Tasty Bourbon

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Man there is nothing I hate more than when I buy a cheap lower shelf liquor that turns out to be better than most most mid shelf and dare I say… even some top shelfers! I got this tasty treat for $18.99 and the regular Old Forester is $13.99! I chose the Signature bottle because I figured the 100+ proof would give me more bang for my buck (terrible way to look at things I know but times is hard).

It was like me and this bourbon have known each other all along. It is delicious! At first sip I thought it had a copper flavor thing going but it went away. Now all I taste is good bourbon juice. It’s more on the heavy mellow side with hints of vanilla and is very easy down the hatch. I like it with a splash of water.

I am most interested in trying some of the Old Forester specialty bottles, I am sure they must be great. Just remember that it is what’s on the inside of the bottle that counts.

Kentucky Derby!

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Anyone could tell you I know diddly about horse racing. I just know Woodford is all up on it and it makes for great Saturday drinking/loafing. Keep it clean Kentucky! Lets not go taking out any horses this year.

EDIT: Yes, I spelled Eight Belles wrong… on purpose… yeah
